Background information for the teacher
This resource has been developed for students in a Year 5 classroom. All students in today’s society need to have knowledge and understanding of digital technologies and how these digital technologies work to meet our future needs and wants. The following teaching resource respectfully acknowledge this and will be used to develop student’s knowledge and understanding of digital technologies as well as meeting the need of the general capabilities of literacy, information and communication technologies and critial and creative thinking. This resource will allow students to create their own digital game using the digital software system called Languages Online. Students will also use other means of technology to develop their card game.

Knowledge and Understanding
Investigate the main components of common digital systems, their basic functions and interactions, and how such digital systems may connect together to form networks to transmit data (ACTDIK014)
Processes and Production Skills
Implement digital solutions as simple visual programs involving branching, iteration (repetition), and user input (ACTDIP020)
General Capabilities
Literacy: Students will be comprehending texts through listening, reading and viewing. Students will also be composing texts through speaking, writing and creating.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): Students will be managing and operating ICT software systems.
Critical and Creative Thinking: Students will be identifying, exploring and organising information and ideas to creatively create their own online game.
Please not students will only be assessed on digital technologies
